Chronickel is a private digital family archive for preserving the stories, photographs, letters, family history and important records that make a family yours.
It gives families one organized place to keep memories together, share them privately with the people they choose, create digital Time Capsules for the future, and protect sensitive personal documents in an encrypted Vault on eligible plans.
Chronickel is designed not simply to store files, but to help preserve the meaning, context and relationships around them — creating a family archive that can grow across generations.
Why we built Chronickel
Most of our digital memories were never designed to become a family archive.
Photographs are scattered across phones and cloud libraries. Stories live in conversations and messaging apps. Important letters disappear into email accounts. Family documents sit in folders, drawers or different storage services. Years later, the files may still exist — but the stories around them can be lost.
A photograph can show who was there, but not necessarily why the moment mattered.
A scanned letter can preserve the words, but not always the story of who wrote it, who received it or why the family kept it.
A folder full of files can preserve data without preserving family history.
We built Chronickel to give families a different kind of digital space: somewhere memories can be kept together with their context, connected to the people they belong to and preserved for those who come after.
That is why Chronickel combines family stories, photographs, a family tree, digital Time Capsules and secure document storage within one private family archive.

Our approach
Private by default
A family's memories should not have to become public in order to be shared digitally.
Chronickel family spaces are designed for private sharing. You decide who you invite and what level of access they receive, so stories and family history can be shared with the people they are intended for rather than published to the wider internet.
Your memories stay yours
The stories, photographs, documents and other material you add to Chronickel remain your content.
Our role is to provide the tools and infrastructure that help you organize, preserve and share it with the people you choose.
Built for portability
We do not believe a family's history should depend permanently on one company or one online service.
Chronickel therefore allows you to export your family archive as a browsable offline copy. This gives your family a way to keep what you have created outside Chronickel and preserve it independently for the future.
Designed for a digital legacy
Chronickel is built with the long term in mind.
Stories can be preserved alongside photographs. Family relationships can provide context. Digital Time Capsules can carry messages into the future. Important documents can be protected separately in the Vault on eligible plans.

Our infrastructure and security
Protecting private family information requires more than simply calling a service "secure."
Chronickel uses established infrastructure providers and applies technical controls for authentication, permissions, storage, audit logging and the protection of uploaded material.
The Chronickel Vault adds a separate layer for sensitive personal documents and uses encryption based on a Vault passphrase separate from your normal account sign-in.
