How it works
From first story to full archive
Here's the path most families follow, from creating a space to holding a full, exportable archive.
1. Create a family space
Sign up free on the Free plan — no card required — and create your family space.
2. Preserve a memory
Write a story, attach photos, and choose who can read it — the whole family, just close relatives, or only people you name individually.
3. Create a time capsule
Write a message for a future date, choose who it's addressed to, and seal it. See how time capsules work.
4. Invite relatives
Invite family by email and assign a role: Editor (can add and edit stories), Viewer (full family member, read only), or Friend (sees only Public and Friends-visibility stories). Revoke access any time — every change is logged.
5. Use the Vault, when eligible
On Family or Legacy, set up a separate vault passphrase and start storing encrypted copies of sensitive documents. See what the Vault protects.
6. Export your archive
Download your stories, family tree, and time capsules as a self-contained offline copy, any time — openable from disk, with no account or internet connection needed later.
