Frequently asked questions
What happens if I stop paying?
You can cancel at any time. Your current plan stays active until the end of the billing period you already paid for, then your space moves to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted — everything you've already added stays readable and exportable. New uploads pause until you're back within Free's limits.
Can I export everything?
Yes. Full offline export is included on every plan, including Free — you can download your complete family archive, or an individual story, at any time.
Who can see my archive?
Nothing is public by default. Only the people you invite can see your space, and what they see depends on their role (Owner, Editor, Viewer, or Friend) and each story's own visibility setting. A story only appears on a public page if you deliberately mark it Public.
Is the Vault readable by Chronickel?
No. The Vault is encrypted with a passphrase that's separate from your account password and never stored by Chronickel in any recoverable form. Only someone with the correct passphrase can decrypt what's inside. See what the Vault protects.
